What is Cala Violina like?

How do I get to Cala Violina, and what should I know before going?
Cala Violina lies in a protected nature reserve and can only be reached on foot, along a path of about 20 minutes. From May to September access is limited and must be booked in advance on the Scarlino town council website; it is still worth arriving early, before 9:00. Bring water and supplies, as facilities are limited. The best time is June or September, when the beach is less crowded.
